Waterproofing is where bathrooms fail
Almost every bathroom problem we get called about is water getting somewhere it shouldn't. You can't see the waterproofing once the tile is up, which is exactly why it's where corners get cut. On the Sanford bath that meant a waterproof membrane on the shower walls, an uncoupling membrane under the floor tile and a mortar shower pan. On a standard shower we usually build the walls with GoBoard. How we pick between GoBoard, KERDI and cement board.
The Sanford bath on this page started as a leak call. Thirteen years old, builder tile, and water had been getting behind the shower wall for who knows how long. Once we opened it up there was no question of patching anything. It had to come down to the studs.

What if you find something when the walls come open?
Happens a lot with older bathrooms and anything that's been leaking. If we find rot or water damage we stop, show you, and give you the price to fix it in writing before we go further.
